Toronto Catholic District School Board is pleased to announce that it is the proud new owner of St. Joseph's College School located at 74 Wellesley Street West, Toronto.

TCDSB purchased the property from the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto. The transaction was completed December 6, 2007.

TCDSB would like to thank Sister Margaret Myatt and her CSJ Leadership Team for helping to ensure that the popular St. Joseph's College School will remain at this location far into the future.

"The Board has, from the outset, affirmed its commitment to maintaining a Catholic secondary school for girls in downtown Toronto," says Kevin Kobus, Director of Education. "We are very pleased at the outcome of our negotiations with the Sisters, and that the uncertainty about the future of St. Joseph's College School has come to an end. The students, staff and families can now move forward with confidence.".

Catherine LeBlanc-Miller, Chair of the Board and Trustee for the area, has always pushed for maintaining a strong Catholic presence in the downtown core. "St. Joseph's College School has a long and proud history of service to young women in the City of Toronto. I am delighted that we are able to put to rest any questions about the future of this school community. I would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the families and to the students for their patience throughout this lengthy process. I am sure this news will come as a wonderful early Christmas present to all," she adds.
